Mankon, in Bamenda, is where Caritas Bamenda is based. Our offices sit beside the Metropolitan Cathedral at Big Mankon, and the surrounding urban area has received large numbers of people displaced from rural communities across the North West.
Urban displacement
Displacement into a town looks different from displacement into a village. Families are absorbed into crowded compounds and rented rooms rather than camps, which makes them harder to identify and easy to overlook. Rent, food and school fees all have to be found in cash.
What we do here
Our work in the Bamenda urban area includes shelter and rental support, food assistance, education support, protection and health referral.
