Food on the table while families find their feet again
Displacement breaks the link between a family and its farm. People who fed themselves a year ago now depend on what they can find, borrow or be given. Food assistance keeps a family alive while other support helps them rebuild.
Emergency food distribution
We distribute food to households identified as most at risk — families headed by women or children, older people living alone, people with disabilities, and households hosting displaced relatives. Distributions are organised with community leaders and monitored so that assistance reaches those it was intended for.
Cash and voucher assistance
Where local markets are working, cash or vouchers give families dignity and choice: they can buy what they actually need, and the money stays in the local economy rather than displacing local traders. We assess market conditions before choosing this approach.
Nutrition for the most vulnerable
Young children, pregnant women and nursing mothers have needs that a general ration does not meet. We provide targeted nutritional support for these groups in coordination with our health work.
From relief towards self-reliance
Food assistance is not a solution on its own. Wherever the security situation allows, we move families towards agricultural support, so that the next harvest comes from their own land rather than from a distribution.
