Sustainable agriculture assistance
From food aid back to a family feeding itself
Most families in the North West were farmers before the crisis. Restoring their ability to farm is the most direct route out of dependence on assistance — and the most durable.
Seeds, tools and inputs
We provide improved seed, planting material, tools and inputs timed to the planting season, prioritising displaced households with access to land and host families sharing their land.
Training in better practice
We support farmers with training in soil fertility, composting, crop rotation, pest management and post-harvest handling — reducing losses that often destroy a quarter of what a family grows.
Climate-smart and environmentally sound farming
Rainfall is less predictable than it was, and pressure on land has increased. We promote practices that protect soil and water: agroforestry, erosion control, drought-tolerant varieties and reduced reliance on chemical inputs. This connects directly to our commitment to care for creation.
Beyond subsistence
We support farmer groups, savings and lending groups, and small-scale processing and marketing, so that a good harvest becomes income and not just a full granary. Women's participation and control over income is a deliberate focus.
