Sustainable agriculture and environmental sustainability
Caring for creation, because the poorest pay first
The people we serve are the least responsible for environmental damage and the most exposed to its consequences. When the rains fail, when soil is exhausted, when a hillside gives way, it is the poorest household that loses everything.
Care for creation
Our environmental work is rooted in the Church's teaching on care for our common home: that the natural world is entrusted to us, that everything is connected, and that concern for creation and concern for the poor are the same concern.
Soil, water and trees
We promote agroforestry, tree planting, erosion control and water conservation, working with farmers whose land has been degraded by over-cultivation, deforestation and increasingly erratic rainfall.
Climate-resilient farming
We support farmers to adapt: drought-tolerant and early-maturing varieties, diversified cropping so that one failure is not total, improved storage, and reduced dependence on costly external inputs.
Environmental awareness
We work with parishes, schools and community groups on environmental education — waste, water, tree cover and the practical choices households make — because durable change is cultural before it is technical.

We look at our own operations too: how we procure, how we travel and what we leave behind in the communities where we work.
